Hiding a warrior's resolve beneath a nun's robes, she endures the grief of losing her own children one after another, yet wipes away her tears and rules through a chaotic era with her eyes fixed on the nation's future. Even as pressure from the imperial court closes in during the Jokyu War, she stands unafraid, and the song captures the passion of her legendary speech urging the warriors of Kamakura to repay their debt of loyalty. Though she has lost everyone she loved, she refuses to grieve or look back, choosing instead to walk a cold, unwavering path of power to protect her nation. It closes with her famous declaration, "my name is Masako, the cornerstone of Kamakura," in a bold, powerfully rooted Japanese-style anthem.
