"Solitude Invented the Voice"
This work is an attempt to give rise to "sound" as a manifestation of the primordial emotions that once resided within vibration and resonance before the acquisition of language.

Jun Futamata, who has continually centered the voice in her practice and pioneered a distinctive mode of expression through vocalise-based techniques, here shifts her focus toward a more fundamental sonic realm. Anchored in warm ambient textures that evoke the presence of ancient life, the piece explores resonances that precede meaning and linguistic articulation.

The recording took place in Reykjavík, Iceland marking her second session in this location and was produced at Masterkey Studios. The project features the participation of the studio's owner, producer, and engineer, Sturla Mio Thorisson. In addition, a string quartet led by the esteemed violinist Una Sveinbjarnardóttir renowned for her collaborations with artists such as Björk and Jóhann Jóhannsson contributes to the creation of a richly organic and deeply layered soundscape.

Returning to this place once again, the production embodies both continuity and evolution from the previous work, ultimately culminating in a more primitive and elemental exploration of sound.

In seeking to touch sensations that precede language, this piece gently unfolds within the listener's inner depths, offering a musical experience that resonates with the very roots of emotion.

This song is a composition that appeals to a wide spectrum of listeners, spanning post-classical, ambient, contemporary music, environmental music, minimalism, electronica, and classical traditions.
