AUTHENTIC SKA STANDARD is a project dedicated to thoroughly studying the sound and performance techniques of original Jamaican ska born in the 1960s, with the aim of bringing the atmosphere of that era back to life in the present day.
In this release, every element - from rhythm and arrangement to playing style - has been carefully reconstructed with the utmost respect for the original recording.

More than a simple cover, this track reflects an unwavering commitment to playing a standard the right way.

  • AUTHENTIC SKA STANDARD

    A project aiming to recreate the sound and carry on the spirit of 1960s ska music. Members: ASAMI HIROSHI; trombone, vocals OSHIMA TAKAHARU; alto saxophone ONODERA SATOSHI; piano KITANOHARA MITSUO; drums SUZUKI TAKAO; guitar NAGAI SHINICHI; bass, vocals MORIKAGE WATARU; tenor saxophone YAMAUCHI KOUJI; trumpet History: In March 2025, sessions were held to research roots ska. Centered around these members, the project will focus on creating recordings. Activities centered around music distribution are planned starting in 2026. Concept: We aim to seriously engage with authentic ska, seeking to preserve its sound and spirit. We will explore everything from performance techniques to recording methods, documenting this history.
