This tune is a binaural recording of a synthesizer system using 24-channel speakers. Please experience the three-dimensional sound of this system with headphones. The system consisted of a computer, universal serial bus (USB) device, line selector, buffer, filter, and mixer. The speaker units were arranged facing inward to form a rectangle measuring 160 cm in width and 141 cm in length. Eight front speakers were symmetrically positioned along the front edge of the rectangle, with their midpoints adjacent to each other and placed at a height of 60 cm from the floor. The total width of the eight front speakers was 153 cm. The eight rear speakers were arranged similarly to the front speakers, but at a height of 30 cm from the floor. Four speakers were placed along the left side of the rectangle. The first speaker was positioned 42.5 cm high from the floor at the front. The second speaker was 35 cm from the front and 36 cm high, the third was 70 cm from the front and 30 cm high, and the fourth was 105 cm from the front and 24 cm high. The fifth to eighth speakers on the right side were placed in the same manner as the speakers on the left side. A 2-input, 8-output mixer was used to control sound source movement for the 8-channel speakers, with the mixer receiving control signals from a USB device. The three mixers controlled the sound source movement differently for the eight front speakers, eight rear speakers, and eight left and right speakers. The filters in this system included a biquad circuit, a digital delay, a whitening filter, and two state-variable filters. The circuits of the two state-variable filters were different and had different timbres. Compared to the previous speaker system, the height of the fourth speaker on the left and the eighth speaker on the right were adjusted from 30 cm to 24 cm. The heights of the front and rear speakers differed, and the heights of the left and right speakers were gently sloped. Compared to systems with uniform speaker heights, the perception of sound source localization improved by changing the transfer characteristics transmitted to both ears. A dummy head microphone was shoulder-mounted under the neck to improve sound quality. For recording, the dummy head microphone was positioned on a box placed at the center of gravity of the rectangle. The box was 20 cm long, 36 cm wide, and 30 cm high.
