Lyric

sleeping through the city

nilo

Woke up to the same ceiling stain

Same old ghosts calling my name

Coffee cold on the windowsill

Another day I don’t know how to feel

The city’s moving underneath

Everybody’s got somewhere to be

I’m just watching headlights bend

Like they know something I don’t yet

I’ve been talking to the dark again

Trying to make some kind of sense of it

Every answer fades before it lands

Slipping through my hands

There’s static in my head tonight

A thousand roads, not one feels right

Running circles through the afterglow

Of a life I thought I’d know

And I’m tired of chasing signs

In the spaces between the lines

If tomorrow comes, I’ll let it in

But I can’t see past where I’ve been

Everybody says it’ll be okay

Like the words can wash the fear away

But the moon still hangs above my room

And silence tells the harsher truth

I keep old dreams inside a drawer

Don’t know what I’m saving them for

Maybe one day they’ll fit my hands

Maybe they were never in the plans

If I disappear into the night

Would the stars remember my light?

Or am I just another passing spark

Fading quietly into the dark?

There’s static in my head tonight

But somewhere underneath the noise I find

A heartbeat buried in the haze

Still surviving all these days

So I’ll leave the window open wide

Let the cold air change my mind

Maybe hope is just a stubborn thing

That refuses to leave
