With her soulful voice, highly original compositions, and collaborations with various artists, bird continues to captivate music fans across genres. This Ghibli song is a cover of "Hitoribocchi wa Yameta," the theme song from Isao Takahata's 1999 film "My Neighbors the Yamadas," originally written, composed, and sung by Akiko Yano.

The jacket features original artwork by Shiho Sato, a painter who works on backgrounds for Studio Ghibli films, and Shinichiro Yamada, an animator who previously worked at Ghibli.

    Singer & Songwriter (Born in Kyoto in 1975) With her soulful voice and highly original songs, she captivates music fans across genres. She debuted on the label run by Shinichi Osawa/MONDO GROSSO, and her 1st album "bird" sold over 700,000 copies and won the Gold Disc Award for Best New Artist. In 2024, she celebrated her 25th anniversary and released "25th anniv, re-edit best + SOULS2024" in September as a 2024 best-of album. Her 12th original album, "Reconnect," was fully produced by Keiichi Tomita (aka Tomita Lab), and features guest appearances by ARIWA (ASOUND) and Schadaraparr, and will be released on March 12, 2025. Currently, she performs at various outdoor festivals and events, transcending genre boundaries.
