Strobe on the Embankment is a mid tempo city pop track that portrays the night a nameless closeness quietly turns into a beginning.
A riverside bank along the Tama, a floodgate just outside the edge of the crowd, damp night air drifting across the water, and the smell of gunpowder carried on the wind create a summer scene where each flash of light reveals a face before it has time to compose itself.
Performed by the fictional AI singer Akemi, the song captures the emotions of adulthood that refuses to be swept up in the start of something, and instead accepts the time ahead together with the ending that will eventually arrive.
Inspired by the late 1970s to early 1980s Japanese new music and city pop, the track reimagines that era urban lyricism through images of summer nights, riverside humidity, and the stillness that exists just outside a crowd.
When he murmurs that it is beautiful, she only nods and looks away, letting a little more pressure gather in their folded fingers instead.
With no promise and no declaration, she decides she will lay the blame on no one, and starts walking up the gravel slope.

A music project that reimagines the melancholic mood and nighttime glow of late 1970s to early 1980s Japanese City Pop and New Music through AI-assisted production and human direction. Akemi is a fictional singer with a backstory of being from Yamato City, Kanagawa, Japan. She sings of urban solitude, grown-up love, and bittersweet afterglow in a noir-tinged city pop sound. Lyrics, composition, vocals, and visuals are created using generative tools and curated through editing. This is an experimental project exploring the human warmth and nostalgia that can emerge from AI.
