MOSTLY BALLADS is my long-awaited first album. The concept is "to deliver my favorite songs, mainly ballads, in an expression that takes advantage of DUO's strengths."
I've always wanted to make an album someday, but I haven't been able to take the first step, but I was given the opportunity to add a poem to Akiko's original song "Hajimari no Aki" and as I performed with them live, I realized that I would love to record this song. This feeling has become stronger. When I tweeted this to Akiko, things started to take shape.Akiko is a wonderful pianist, and she can feel the singer's breathing and play closely with the song. We recorded all the songs at the same time, so I'd be happy if you could feel the interaction between the two of us.

Artist Profile

  • Maki Katsube

    Born in Tokyo. After graduating from Musashino College of Music (Department of Music Education, Vocal Music Major), she worked as a music teacher at a public junior and senior high school in Tokyo. When she was a student, she belonged to the JAZZ club and played the piano and was drawn into the charm of jazz. However, after graduating, she restudied vocal music, focusing on classical German songs, and won the Excellence Award at the Kawai Classic Audition in 2002. After that, she switched to jazz again. She performs jazz vocal live at live houses in Tokyo. I would like to make use of my diverse musical experience to pursue my own unique expression.
