Following the release of her latest EP Tell Me You Love Me Too, aimi returns with her first new single in eight months, "SUN," arriving on August 26.

Centered around warm, organic instrumentation with touches of gospel and UK soul, the song carries the uplifting message of "Kokoro wa Hallelujah" ("My heart will clear again"). "SUN" is a heartfelt reminder that no matter how dark life may become, the sun continues to shine over us, bringing hope and light.

Written after overcoming a six-month period of writer's block, "SUN" marks a return to the question that first inspired aimi's journey as an artist: "Why do I keep singing?" The song opens a new chapter as she embraces her purpose of healing souls as a messenger through music.

Produced by Modesty Beats, the track features saxophone by KenT (Soulflex) and trumpet by Takezo Yamada.

"There was a time when nothing seemed to go right. I couldn't sleep at night, and I couldn't even turn my feelings into music. I decided to quiet the noise in my mind and return to a blank state. By spending time in the sun every morning and taking time to reconnect deeply with myself, I was finally able to rediscover who I truly am.

'SUN' is a story about choosing the light after walking through darkness and learning to embrace yourself. I hope this song can be there for anyone who needs it."

A special release event will be held on October 25 at GOOD TEMPO in Ikejiri-Ohashi, Tokyo. Reservations will open at 6:00 PM (JST) on August 26.

    Born and raised in Japan, aimi is a multi-talented singer-songwriter and emerging R&B artist. Based in Tokyo, she is now one of the most authentic R&B songstresses, contributing to the evolving Japanese R&B scene. She released her first bilingual EP, Water Me (2020), for both Japanese and global R&B listeners. Growing up listening to soul music and R&B, aimi picked up her father's guitar and began writing her own music at the age of 16. Her musical style is rooted in the soulful sounds of 90s and 00s R&B, with a blend of contemporary and alternative R&B influences. Since her latest EP Chosen One was released in early 2022, aimi has been gaining more recognition within Japan and her global streams have jumped significantly. aimi continues to push boundaries with her music and proudly presents her made-in-Japan R&B for all the R&B lovers around the globe. In April, she released her first single of 2024, which was produced by US multi-platinum R&B producer LEJKEYS, known for his work on Jhene Aiko's Grammy-nominated album Chilombo, as well as with Anderson Paak, Yuna, Awich, AI, and others. In the past few years, aimi has collaborated with R&B artists like EMI MARIA, JASMINE, and rising J-pop artist Furui Riho. Her second collaboration with EMI MARIA, How's The Weather?, went viral in China, becoming one of the most popular tracks in her catalog. Alongside her releases, aimi hosts her own R&B event and podcast, Detox Lounge powered by R&B Lovers Club. On February 5, she released her first EP in three years, Empower.Embrace (2025). In celebration of its release, she held her first-ever solo concert at Shibuya WWW, marking a milestone in her career with a resounding success.
