This song is about the overwhelming force of spring, and the feeling of loss.
Around the time I wrote it, spring was just beginning, and I had also just gone through a breakup with someone I had been with for a long time.
As the season came alive outside - with plants growing, living things multiplying, and everything gaining more and more energy - inside me, the sense of loss from losing her was growing just as powerfully.
Both kinds of intensity felt deeply moving to me.
I wasn't sure whether what I felt was wonder, grief, awe, or something in between - so I turned those emotions into a song.
