Artist Profile

  • TAIYOHOUSHI

TAIYO HOSHI grew up in a public housing complex in a regional city in Japan. As a child, he was never the type to stand out. He was constantly worried about what others thought of him, and he often struggled to openly admit even the things he truly loved. In his teenage years, a reggae mixtape borrowed from a friend changed the course of his life. He was drawn to reggae not because it offered easy answers, but because it spoke honestly about pain, weakness, and the strength to keep moving forward. Inspired by those words, he slowly began writing down his own feelings and turning them into lyrics. After graduating from high school, he moved from job to job, working in delivery services, factories, construction sites, restaurants, and other workplaces. Life did not always go smoothly. Along the way, he met people who had failed, people who had nearly given up on their dreams, and people who carried their struggles in silence. He began writing down their words, expressions, and stories in a notebook. One summer morning, after finishing a long shift, he watched the sun rise and felt something shift inside him. That was the moment he decided: "I want to create music that brings light into people's hearts." He took the name TAIYO HOSHI as a symbol of that mission, a presence that shines like the sun and uses words to reach people whose voices often go unheard. His music explores themes such as confidence, loneliness, challenge, failure, love, family, work, and the pressure of comparing yourself to others. Through reggae and hip-hop, TAIYO HOSHI creates songs that feel like a hand on the shoulder of anyone going through a difficult time.
