  Until 1989, MANQ performed as the guitarist of hardcore band SO WHAT, active nationwide and ranked in the top 6 of Japan's indie charts. Later, he shifted genres to funk and formed VALKYRIE, releasing two albums. During this period, he transitioned from guitar to alto saxophone. After playing in multiple bands, MANQ now focuses on solo performances, playing saxophone over self-produced backing tracks. He occasionally performs acoustic guitar sets as well. This page features his 1st album LOUGE OF CITY HOTEL and 2nd album ILLEST AND DROPDEAD GORGEOUS, themed around urban memory and solitude. Music is not just something to sell - it is something to leave behind. With that belief, MANQ continues to record quietly and sincerely.
