Afloat

Tera Kira

The storm didn't warn me, it just took me and carried me away

I fell from the deck, no one heard me when I shouted for help

The cold hits, stiffens every muscle

The light above is thinning, gradually becoming darker

Gravity is foreign, it's pulling me down

Towards a place from which there's no return

Salt stings the wounds that can't be seen anymore

And the darkness around is heavy, it doesn't dodge

The bottom is calling, but my lungs are screaming for shore

Every kick is a war against this silence

I'm not asking for rescue, I'm not waiting for the ship

I'll get up myself, even if it costs a lot of effort

I'm trying to get to the surface

It's quiet down here, almost peaceful

I can give up, stop all the useless fighting

The pressure crushes my chest, time loses its meaning

But some memory strikes, gives me a reason

I can't sink because of a single image

That's all I have to do, I can't let it disappear

I look towards the dim reflection

I find strength there, which should have been just comfort

The bottom calls, but my lungs scream to the shore

Every kick is a war against this silence

I don't ask for rescue, I don't wait for a ship

I'll get up myself, even if it costs a lot of effort

Stay afloat!

The journey up is longer. Every meter hurts

My muscles are on fire, my mind is already numb

There's no strength left, it's just a compulsion

From darkness to light, the debt of oxygen must be paid

Only one movement in my thoughts: upwards

This air on the surface

It tears my lungs, the sun blinds me

I'm not on the beach, I'm drifting, soon to be safe

I'm staying afloat
