Ami Yoda is a Japanese voice performer. She has been climbing trees and boulders since childhood and engages in free improvisation with a wild sense, focusing on voice-centered expression. In this first album, she recorded voice solos and had a session with guitarist Takahiro Toshiro ,over the course of two days. The first day was recorded in a studio, while the second day was recorded outdoors. The outdoor recording took place on the boulder at the Oyayama Observatory in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, with permission obtained from the local authorities. She incorporated the sounds of birds, the swaying of trees in the wind, and aircrafts flying across the sky into the session. The album's title, "ONSIGHT," is derived from a term used in rock climbing, which she has been a fan of for many years.
An improvisational voice and body performer exploring primal forms of expression inspired by nature. Through spontaneous vocalization and movement, she creates immersive performances that emerge in response to each environment. She has collaborated with musicians from Japan and overseas in improvised settings and has presented her work at live music venues, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary art events. Her practice transcends genre, resulting in a distinctive and singular performative language.
