ポップ、ジャズ、ソフトロック、エレクトロニック、渋谷系...などなど、多岐にわたる楽曲スタイルを持つpomodorosaだが、多くのリスナーにとってpomodorosaといえばやはりボサノバだろう。
実際、ブルボン、秋空サウダーヂ、霹靂、フェジョアーダ、pardon、再生数の上位に君臨するのはボサノバやサンバのトラックばかりだ。
この最新作「faux fruit」はボサノバとサンバしか入っていない。ただしここにあるのはチルで居心地のいいだけのボッサではない。ボッサのコンテキストにのっとりながらも、アレンジ、歌詞、テクノロジー、メソッドでその限界を押し広げようとする挑戦的でエッジーなアルバムだ。手前勝手にジャンル名を付けても良いのならこれは「Advanced Bossa」と呼べるだろう。
昨今の混沌とした世界秩序やAIの台頭と欺瞞、分断と不寛容の時代。軽妙なボッサの裏側で扱うテーマは重く複雑だ。しかし同時に人間の普遍的な価値観や変わらない生活がそこに存在していることもまた事実。しかし、いかなる混沌や価値観も大きな輪廻の輪の中のひとコマに過ぎない。アルバムの最初と最後に輪廻転生を意味する「Reincarnation」を置いていることがそのテーマの証左だ。
このアルバムはそんな「人間からの視点」と「超越した何かからの視点」が渾然一体となった意欲作だ。
ちなみにタイトルの「faux fruit」はフランス語で訳すと「嘘の果実」となる。投げかけるこのアルバムの真贋はぜひリスナーのみなさんに預けたい。
