Humanity was on the path to extinction. A giant meteorite fell, and the creatures born from it destroyed the world, causing strange phenomena to wreak havoc. Cities were reduced to ruins and became their dens. But humanity had not given up yet. Armed with a new weapon called "Reifu" that could recognize and destroy spirits, and armor to exterminate the creatures, they formed a new Spirit Extermination Squad, and first challenged the Spider's base to reclaim its central presence, Rodrine.
