Growing up in Japan and now living there, I was fortunate to be immersed in traditional Japanese arts and culture from an early age, including Noh theater, Sōkyoku (koto music), Shodō (calligraphy), and Haiku.
Inspired by a recent rereading of the works of Matsuo Bashō, this project seeks to recreate a tranquil, minimalist atmosphere through sound, enriched with a poignant emotional depth that resonates with the listener.
Titled "Old Pond," the piece references one of Bashō's most celebrated poems.
Through this work, I challenge myself to bridge classical Japanese aesthetics with contemporary music, offering a modern interpretation of timeless cultural expression.
Nine Tales is a beatmaker from Tokyo, Japan, who expresses deep human instincts and emotions through a coarse ambiance, akin to the Japanese concept of Wabi-Sabi. His love for old hardware samplers creates a rough yet soothing texture to his beats that are reminiscent of the 90s-a somewhat lost art in today's digital world. This specific warmth brings listeners back to their essence and pure self. Laugh, dance, or cry; all emotions are welcome here.
