The lyrics of this work are based on a tanka poem written six years after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake in Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture, by children in the sixth grade at the time.
When I first heard their tanka, no, even now I can't stop crying, but at the same time, I felt soothed and encouraged by their words.
In 2017, I composed five tanka poems that expressed the thoughts they had in their hearts, and after that, I held "Furusato Tanka Concerts" in towns in the three disaster-stricken prefectures for everyone to listen to.
Six years later, we worked on the recording so that more people could listen to it.
This work has become one of the most important works in my career as a musician.
We must take the sad experiences of these people and those of the many affected by the disaster as valuable clues for the future.
