In These Arms (English Ver.)

Nelson Babin-Coy

How I wish I could embrace you

In these arms of mine

You must feel so alone

With a pain that only you know

How I wish I could take these hands

And wipe away all of your tears

Oh I’d tell you we’ll be okay

So just hold on one more day

But now I see what I can’t be

And it brings me down to my knees

It looks like I’m not strong enough

But my heart will not give up

We’ll feel alive again, we can make it to the end

Here I am, right with you

And I know you’re right here with me, too

How I wish my love for you, dear

Could save you from the hurt

If you listen, you might hear

All the prayers sent from far and near

And tomorrow morning

When the sun comes shining in

It’s all because we could believe

In the hope that we cannot see

I don’t know how to say goodbye

It’s so hard, but still, I’ll try

Oh God, can you hear my call?

Give me strength to get through it all

So just open the window

And look up to the sky

Can you feel all the love

Falling into your arms from above?

We’ll feel alive again, we can make it to the end

Here I am, right with you

And I know you’re right here with me, too

We’ll feel alive again, we can make it to the end

Here I am, right with you

And I know you’re right here with me, too

At the beginning of the pandemic, veteran Japanese singer-songwriter Tokiko Kato wrote and released "Kono Te Ni Dakishimetai" on her YouTube channel, a song about the helplessness many of us have gone through. She called upon Nelson Babin-Coy, a bilingual lyricist behind English tracks for top Japanese artists like SEKAI NO OWARI and Yonezu Kenshi, to write the translated English lyrics. The song deeply resonated with Nelson, so he asked Tokiko Kato for permission to release his own version of the song, and thus "In These Arms" was born.
