What I wanted to explore through this song is deeply connected to what I value as a songwriter and music creator, as well as to the meaning of "Hikari," the Japanese word for "light," in my pen name, HIKARI KAIMA.

"What am I?"

When I follow that question inward, I arrive at the idea that I am made of cells. Cells are made of molecules, molecules are made of atoms, and if we look even deeper into atoms, we enter a world of protons, neutrons, electrons, and beyond.

From there, however, I leave science behind and enter the realm of my own feelings and imagination, the place from which this song was born.

Ultimately, this is how I feel:

I am a vibration of light.

"You..." is a song about remembering that light within us, and about remembering who we truly are before the many voices, expectations, joys, hurts, and experiences of life gradually make us forget.

In that sense, this song also feels like a kind of conclusion to a journey that began with "Come Back Home" and continued through "An Answer in Time."

For the lyrics, I took a step beyond my previous process of writing in Japanese and then translating into English. This time, I moved repeatedly from Japanese to English, back to Japanese, and then to English again.

By moving back and forth between the two languages, I was able to explore not only the words themselves, but also the meanings and emotions beneath them.

Musically, "You..." is built around a gentle Broadway-inspired ballad. Warm grand piano and subtle strings form the foundation. As the song moves through moments of meeting others, falling in love, getting hurt, and sometimes losing our way, soft rock elements such as clean electric guitar, warm bass, and light drums gradually enter.

Broadway and soft rock then gently blend together before the music returns to a more theatrical Broadway sound for the final chorus. In the end, everything settles back into the intimacy of solo piano.

The entire song is carried by one mature female voice, warm, natural, and consistent in character, allowing the emotion to deepen gradually while preserving the song's sense of intimacy.

Above all, I paid special attention to the sound of one word:

"You..."

Who is "You"?

"You" is every person who listens to this song, and every person they love.

A child, a teenager, an adult. Wherever we may be on the journey of life, there is a place within us where we began, a part of ourselves that remains unchanged.

And at the same time,

"You" is also me.

No matter how far we travel through life, there is a light within us that we can always return to and remember.

"You..." is a song about that light.
