Artist Profile

  • EPICH

EPICH is a contemporary music project led by Japanese composer and pianist Mitsuo Kabuki. The name "EPICH" combines the words "EPIC" and "ECHO", reflecting the project's vision of telling stories through sound. Rooted in jazz, EPICH creates music centered around the acoustic piano while incorporating modern grooves and electronic elements. Featuring bassist Keisuke Furuki and drummer Kaoru Suzuki as core members, the project collaborates with carefully selected guest vocalists and instrumentalists, choosing the ideal musicians for each composition. Kabuki graduated from Yokohama City University and began studying piano at the age of 23. He studied jazz piano under Shigeru Sawamura, Keiko Kato, Takafumi Kojima, and Akihiko Matsui. His original composition "AKITA" was selected as a semifinalist in the 2017 International Songwriting Competition. He has also performed on recordings including Akihiko Matsui's "GROOVE X" and Mizuki Shikimachi's "Ryuboku's Ballad". EPICH released its debut album "EPICH" in 2016, followed by a release concert finale at Motion Blue Yokohama in 2018 with the recording members. The second album, "Uncrowned", was released in 2023. Kabuki continues to independently produce his music, handling the recording, mixing, and mastering of his own works. Since resuming activities in 2023, every EPICH single has been featured on official Apple Music editorial playlists. While rooted in jazz, EPICH transcends genre boundaries, creating music that tells a unique story with every release.
