The idol group Aquarium and Clematis, which focuses on three pillars: daily life, live performance, and journey, has announced their 2nd EP, Akashic, as the second release in their three-month consecutive release project. In this project, each EP features different songwriters. The tracks on Akashic are crafted by taru-ryo, the guitarist and vocalist of the Kobe-based band "SAPPY," known for their focus on shoegaze and dream pop. The EP includes three tracks: "Just Like Honey," a cover of SAPPY's song by Aquarium and Clematis; "Nowhere," which explores the connection between space and "here" after traveling the world; and "NAYUTA," which depicts an escape from reality to reach the heavens.
The title of the EP, Akashic, is derived from the "Akashic Records," said to be a compendium of all events, thoughts, emotions, and experiences from the beginning of time to the future. The diverse genres of the songs on this EP suggest three different "paths to the future": a future that cannot be reached without clinging to the past, a future that lies beyond the inner universe (the present), and a timeless future brought about by an escape from reality. While the first EP depicted the relationship between reality and fiction (stories), this EP is a "record" that focuses on the relationship between different times.
