Mirror

The debut solo work by haruki matsui, guitarist and vocalist of the Fukui-based band "Springs." This 19-minute ambient piece is themed around psychoanalyst and philosopher Jacques Lacan's "Mirror Stage." Utilizing analog synthesizer drones, Shepard tones, and spoken-word poetry, the composition depicts the psychological journey from the "fragmented body" to the acquisition of self, and the ultimate transition into the structured "Symbolic order."
