Tenkosei - The New Kid

TAKAHIROID, the solo project of Japanese musician Takahiro Matsumoto, releases his first streaming single Tenkosei (Transfer Student).

Best known as the vocalist and guitarist of the band The Turtles, Matsumoto has also performed in projects such as SPARKY, ROLLY & GLIMROCKERS, and Masanori Sera × JETROX. A versatile pop creator, he writes, composes, arranges, produces, and performs his own music, blending rock energy with a playful pop sensibility.

In 2025, his YouTube release ROCK STAR began attracting attention and marked the start of his solo project TAKAHIROID.

Built on the foundations of Indie Pop, Power Pop, and Rock, Tenkosei delivers a bright and uplifting Electric Pop sound. Shimmering guitars and infectious melodies carry a sense of youthful motion and nostalgia.

Inspired by Matsumoto's teenage years of repeatedly transferring schools, the song reflects the restless emotions of adolescence and the search for identity. The result is a nostalgic yet energetic coming-of-age pop song that resonates with anyone who has ever felt like the new kid in town.

Written, performed, mixed, and visually directed by Matsumoto himself, Tenkosei is a fully self-produced work.
