I want to stay drunk forever

Yumi Ishikawa

Night

Alright!

Alright alright

Artist Profile

  • Yumi Ishikawa

Born in Gifu, Japan. Based in Tokyo. Yumi Ishikawa is a Japanese writer, activist, and musician. She began her career in the entertainment industry immediately after graduating from high school. In 2017, she publicly spoke out about sexual violence within the industry, and in 2019 launched the social movement #KuToo, which was nominated for Japanese Buzzword Awards Top 10. She was selected as one of the BBC 100 Women 2019. While continuing her work as a writer, speaker, and podcaster, Ishikawa began creating music as part of her personal healing and recovery process. She started her musical activities with the unit Koen de Chill, a project that aims to dissolve the boundaries between social activism and artistic expression. Appearing at rallies and demonstrations, the group performs songs that move between political reality and personal emotion. In 2026, she released her first solo single, Zutto Yopparatteitai (I Want to Stay Drunk Forever). Moving freely across genres, Ishikawas music explores trauma, loneliness, and the process of healing through honest, unembellished lyrics and intimate soundscapes. With published books and international media features, she continues to work across both language and music as forms of expression.
