Akagi is a red cloud that appears in the sky. It also refers to a militant band. I've formed a new band. I'll open the gates of hell.

Akagi - Band Profile (English Ver.) Formed on February 14, 2025, Akagi is a four-piece alternative rock band based in Tokyo, Japan. The members are Kai Kirisaki (Vo, Gt), Riku Ishikawa (Gt), Goki Yamakawa (Ba), and Masaya Tokunaga (Dr). The band name "Akagi" means "a red cloud appearing in the sky," and also refers to a "fighting-spirited band." With the concept of "opening the gate to a joyful hell," Akagi creates music where emotional chaos and lyrical beauty coexist. Driven by distorted yet shimmering twin guitars, heartbeat-like rhythms, and Kai Kirisaki's voice filled with pain and prayer, their sound blends raw energy and fragile grace - a collision of destruction and salvation. Akagi released their debut single "Applause for tomorrow" (Applause for Tomorrow) in March 2025, featuring two tracks - "A Certain Morning Sun" and "Applause for tomorrow" - capturing the desperate struggle to find hope in despair. The following months saw a rapid succession of releases: "Spring Storm" (Spring Storm) in April, unleashing a violent surge of guitar-driven emotion; "I should really be able to fly in the sky now" (Now I Could Truly Fly) in May, a soaring and cathartic piece balancing melodic pop and alternative intensity; and "Even Eternity Passes Its Midpoint" (Eternity Is Half Gone) in August, a deeply introspective and atmospheric work showing the band's growing depth. Their upcoming digital single "A roaring rain of love" (Love Rain in Loud Sound), set for release on November 12, 2025, marks the culmination of Akagi's sonic evolution - a thunderous celebration of love, pain, and the will to live. With explosive emotion and haunting tenderness, Akagi stands as a new voice in Japan's alternative rock scene - a band that finds beauty in the pain of being alive.
