Omen44

アルバム・タイトルである「u.s.」には、二重の意味が込められています。一つは強大な国家としての「U.S.（米国）」、もう一つはそこに暮らす人々を指す「us（私たち）」です。この二重性は、個人と国家の間に生じる関係を反映しており、人々が「u.s.」としてひとまとめに定義されながらも、政治的・社会的なシステムによって分断されている現実を浮き彫りにしています。

    幼少期から11歳までをアメリカのテキサス州で過ごし、日本に帰国。多感な時期にヒップホップと出会い、自らもラップを始める。神戸を拠点とし活動するなか、DJ KRUSHに影響を受け、トリップホップの聖地、イギリスを訪れる。後に、これらの経験がOmen44の制作活動に加味されていくのだが、ヒップホップのオリジネーターであるアメリカ黒人のカルチャーを追求するため、19歳で単身アメリカへ戻り、NYへ。ヒップホップの現場ー黒人コミュニティーと真剣に向き合うため、リリックは全て英語で統一、また彼らと深い関わりがある5パーセンターズの一員となる。地道な活動が認められ、Smif-n-Wessun、Sadat X、Craig G、Camp-loなどとの共作、Large Professor、Marley Marlから楽曲提供を受けるなど、世界的に知られるアーティスト達からも信頼を集めている。一方、黎明期の日本語ラップシーンに大きな影響を与えたレジェンドBuddha BrandファミリーやMEGA-Gなどともリンク、日本人とローカルアーティストをつなぐイベント、さらには能登半島地震の被災者へ募金活動など、日本とNYの架け橋として積極的に双方のコミュニティーに貢献している。
