Pongoch is about the earth, about nature, about the seeds that shoot life out from the soil, about Kabunyan, the Supreme Being of the people from the mountains of Northern Luzon, and who controls the transcendental force. Pongoch refers to the source of music, that which started long before human life. Every thing about the nature composes music, so beautifully-unique but also when combined together, creates musical masterpiece, which is different every, single, time. The earth, the air, fire, water, the trees, the beasts of the forests, bamboos - each of them play distinct musical scores. Inspired by Kalinga sounds, Pongoch then utilizes music produced by these natural elements, especially bamboo, combines them with other traditional and modern instruments to create a unique ensemble. Since Pongoch music are mainly created from bamboos, and in Kalinga, bamboo is a cradle by which the culture thrives, Pongoch sings about nature and Kabunyan as the source of music and life.
