The song "Yokohama... Sad City" marks the first collaboration between Daisaku Yoshino and Trame, a legendary band often referred to as a "monument of the Yokohama indie scene," with whom Yoshino has had ties for over 40 years. Originally, this song dates back to the mid-1970s, when Yoshino was performing live with just his voice and guitar. This era recalls masterpieces like "Momijizaka" and "Oyafukō-dōri", which have been reissued multiple times on CD and vinyl. However, "Yokohama... Sad City" was never officially recorded at the time-it was performed only once during a live show in 1991, featuring guitarist Kazuhisa Saiki, who was then considered one of the top three guitarists in Yokohama.
The song' s first official recording and release came in 1997, as part of the album "Mō Ichido Kono Ore ni Blues wo" by Daisaku Yoshino & Sunrise Town Band. The following year, in 1998, it was also included as the final track on the compilation album "Born in Blues City", which brought together leading artists from the Yokohama and Yokosuka scenes, including Eddie Ban, Louis Louis Kabe, Yusuke Nakamura, and Torame.
Now, "Yokohama... Sad City" is being reborn through Yoshino's first-ever collaboration with Torame-an authentic Yokohama-born rock 'n' roll band that released their new CD "Heccharasa" nationwide in 2024, with all tracks also distributed worldwide. Over 50 years since Yoshino first sang it with his guitar, this song has been given a new life through this long-awaited collaboration.The title of the song's jacket was written by one of Japan's leading calligraphers, Mozumi Seison. Mozumi is the calligrapher of the new era name, Reiwa, and a former Cabinet Office official. Rock and calligraphy intersect beautifully.

at Yokohama National University. Since then, he has been a lyricist, composer, and rock singer who has led the original rock scene in Yokohama for over half a century. From the start of his career to the present, he has released 19 original albums-both major and independent-including: "Dance Until You Die" (Tokuma Japan) "We, with Beautiful Backs" (Nippon Crown) "NOWHERE STREET" (Nippon Crown) In particular, albums (1) and (2), released under the name "Daisaku Yoshino & Prostitute," are masterpieces that are always highlighted in Japanese rock history, and they are currently being re-evaluated overseas, especially in Europe. While producing avant-garde and innovative sounds like those of "Prostitute," Yoshino also worked on TV commercial songs such as Nisshin Pork Chowder Noodles and Sunkist Drinks, showcasing his eccentric genius-a trait still celebrated by many rock fans today.

They are the only survivors from the era when the indie storm was raging. Torame is a rare R&R band that has been rolling for 44 years, overcoming all kinds of difficult situations, and their existence has been praised as a ``monumental achievement of Yokohama indies'' and a ``legendary R&R band in Yokohama.'' To date, they have released two single analog records, six full albums, and three omnibus CDs. They will release their seventh full album ``Hecharasa'' on May 29, 2024. The new album, which has been overcoming all kinds of difficulties and continuing to R&R, is produced by Takashi Omori (ex: Southern All Stars) and includes the song "Tobikiri no You May Dream", which is dedicated to Makoto Ayukawa (Sheena & The Rockets), whom Trame has had a deep friendship with for 30 years and respects. As a bonus track, it also includes remixes of "Sakebite in the Darkness" and "Magaimono", which were recorded with Makoto Ayukawa in 2018, and you can hear the spectacular guitar of Makoto Ayukawa, who is Japan's pride and joy. In addition, producer Takashi Omori also participates on guitar on five songs. The guitar sound resonates and is not to be missed even by old-time Southern fans.
