Lowly pops
A three-piece band based in Tokyo. The band was formed in August 2024 when guitarist and vocalist Yamamoto recruited its members through an online message board. Following a lineup change in April 2026, the current bassist joined the band, and since then, they have been actively performing live. Influenced by bands such as Syrup16g, BUMP OF CHICKEN, and Hanuman, the band turns the contradictions and struggles between a desire for self-destruction, self-denial, and the will to keep going into music, sometimes with a sense of utter despair, and at other times with a glimmer of hope. Calling themselves Lowly Pops, literally, "low-grade popular music", the band aims to create pop music for those who struggle to fit into society, those who have fallen through the cracks of the mainstream. The band is currently working on their debut 10-track album.
