The debut single from the steampunk jazz rock band CLOCKWORK REQUIEM.
Requiem of the Thirteenth Chime tells the story of the Thirteenth Chime Incident, a forbidden night when the rulers of a steam-powered city attempted to alter the memories of its citizens through the giant clock tower that once tuned the city's time and memory.
At the heart of the song is Orgel Nocturne, a broken automaton pianist who was forced to perform the melody of forgetting. Hearing the voices of those whose memories were about to vanish, she defied her orders and wove a requiem into the song. The clock tower stopped, and the city's time and memories were left distorted.
With transparent female vocals, broken music-box piano, smoky tenor sax, brass-toned guitar, warm upright bass, and drums that shift from mechanical precision into a human heartbeat, the six members complete the unfinished requiem.
A luminous steampunk jazz rock anthem for lost memories, forgotten souls, and sorrow turning into hope.
