ブラインドセーラーの岩本光弘さんは6年前、ニュースキャスターの辛坊さんと太平洋横断に挑戦しました。しかし航海6日目にクジラとぶつかり遭難、激しいバッシングに立ち上がれないほど辛く、また海が怖くなったそうです。しかし、自分が立ち上がり再挑戦することで勇気づけられる人が沢山いるはず、と気持ちを奮い立たせ2019年2月24日からアメリカサンディエゴを出発し、55日間をノンストップで太平洋横断をみごとに成し遂げました。そして到着地に震災で被害のあった福島県いわき市のいわきサンマリーナを選びました。少しでもいわきの人たちを元気づけようと、また彼らに「海は怖い物ではなくいいものだ」ともう一度思い出してほしい、という思いから着岸地に選んだようです。そのような思いをくんで、今回僕も音楽で2人を応援したいということから船の名前と同じ「ドリームウィーバー(夢を紡ぐもの)」という曲を作らせていただきました。岩本さんの人生観に触れ、寄り添いながら曲を作らせていただくことで僕も不撓不屈な精神を学ぶとともに、その強靭なメンタリティにエールを送りたくなりました。明日にかける思いを感じながら大海原を進むヨットと夕日を追いかける全盲セーラーの雄姿を思い浮かべながら、ロードムービーのエンディングのようなイメージで聞いていただけたらと思います。

    Hello everyone. Music has been part of my life since I was young. This culminated in me composing "Real Victory." Everyone is looking forward to the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics which will be held in 2020. Everyday athletes who will participate in the Olympic and Paralympic Games work hard, overcoming frustration and disappointment. They give us courage, hope and excitement. As a person with a visual impairment, I wondered what I could do for these para-athletes who are trying so hard. I put my feelings of wanting to support them into this song. What I want to convey in this song is that despite various kinds of disabilities, everyone can make a difference in society. There are things that only the disabled can do, and doing so we are able to move people's hearts. I chose "Real Victory" as the song title because regardless of nationality, race, or disability, people who do their best go beyond just victory or defeat and have the heart of really accepting one another. That precious heart is the source of power that will move the future. That is real victory. Para athletes, please do your best and show us heroes! I want to see with my heart. And together, let's have the sound of Real Victory echo high up into the Tokyo sky.
