MEI AND AN

The first EP "MEI AND AN" by Nao-Rew, a female singer-songwriter from Japan who writes lyrics, composes, arranges, sings, plays, and programs all by herself.

It has been a year since her album "SOSEI" released last year. Under the theme of "the right way for adolescent adults to walk around at midnight," the album contains a total of six songs that you want to listen to at midnight. The songs are mainly in the hip-hop, soul, R&B, and jazz genres, but this time the songs have more of a city-pop feel, and Nao-Rew's femininity stands out on this first EP.

While the well-known arrangements and beats are thicker and deeper, the melody lines are even poppier and catchier. The soft, yet technical vocals of Nao-Rew's femininity come to the forefront, and this EP is a must-see.

The title "MEI AND AN" means "light" and "darkness." We are at a major turning point in time, and the "light" and "darkness" of the world are becoming more and more apparent. From these current times, we can glimpse love, romance, joy, sadness, and sorrow. Nao-Rew has incorporated these various human relationships into each of his works.

The world is a somewhat difficult place to live in. But without both "light" and "dark," people cannot be human. The message is to blend and accept the two elements at a pop distance of "MEI (light)-chan and AN (dark)-chan," without lacking either one or being left out.
("Chan" is a Japanese term of endearment used to call someone by their name or to refer to them in a particularly friendly manner.)

Starting with the exhilarating up-tempo "LEMONADE" and ending with the sixth song, "Togenkyo," which made the official Spotify playlist in, the song lasts for about 22 minutes.
