Bilingual rapper Kingo, who is fluent in two languages (English and Japanese) and will be performing at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL 2023 in the "ROOKIE A GO-GO" slot, has completed his memorable first EP "Bandages".
The album is a compilation of songs that Kingo has been making since 2022, and is a culmination of his turbulent days, including his street live performances, working with music producers he met for the first time, and his appearance at Fuji Rock.
The title "Bandages" means "bandage" in English, and Kingo says, "For me, making music is a healing process. Making the songs on this EP was like putting a bandage on a wound I had. Starting with M5 "Always Around," the songs on this EP are songs that reflect his own diverse life experiences and the career he has built up as an artist today.
Born in Tokyo in 1998, Kingo is a rapper and hip-hop artist based primarily in Tokyo. Although born in Japan, his experience of moving between post-war Cambodia and the United States has shaped a distinctly international perspective and story. He continues to expand his global reach through bilingual rap in both Japanese and English, as well as collaborations with artists from overseas. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists and genres, including Kendrick Lamar and Funkadelic, Kingo has developed a distinctive and versatile style of expression. In 2022, a video of his band-style street performance gained significant attention on Twitter, surpassing 100,000 views. His recorded work includes "Always Around," produced in collaboration with music producer A.G.O., which has been featured on numerous official playlists across major streaming platforms. In 2023, Kingo made his debut appearance at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL 2023, performing on the ROOKIE A GO-GO stage. In August 2026, he released "cheqpoint.," his first EP in three years.
