Invisible enemies claw at will

My steady purpose tossed and chilled

Anguish, panic, narrow doubt and fear —

I’m lost inside a pitch-black sphere

Waves of feeling sway and crash

Every moment just a darker flash

Data swirls; the truth slips past —

What’s the right path for me at last?

My thoughts fall like trapped shards in clay

Alarm bells hum inside my brain

From this nameless terror I must flee —

I need to break out, set myself free

In a world that’s only dark, I keep on walking blind

No light to guide me, no map to find

In the stagnant whirl of fears that spin and swell

Where am I headed — heaven or hell?

(Or will I sink or crawl and not be found?)

Consciousness clouds over, thick and slow

I’m tired of being frightened by tomorrow

Hours pass like water through my hands

Locked inside the cage I built with plans

My thinking splits and narrows line by line

My field of view collapses, dims design

From this wordless terror I must flee —

I need to break out, set myself free
