Lyric

Kicking off my shoes at the door

Drop all the worries I dragged through the corridor

One slipper turned a little to the side

Almost like it knew you’d soon arrive

Crinkling in my hand, the paper bag I bring

Before I even say hi

I want to show you first your favorite little treat

All the silly stories piling high

"Welcome home" is what I’ve been rehearsing

Lights are warm and all the pots are gently stirring

You were running late, that’s perfectly fine

Long as you come back to this place of mine

Welcome home, welcome home

Miso soup is cooling again

Standing by the microwave, I laugh to myself then

Heat it up and watch the seconds slide

Still I want to share that very first bite

Loosening the knot of your tired, crooked tie

See the way your shoulders fall

Without a single word I reach out to your back

Whisper "you did great" through it all

"Welcome home" is what I’ve been rehearsing

Lights are warm and all the pots are gently stirring

You were running late, that’s perfectly fine

Long as you come back to this place of mine

Welcome home, welcome home

Umbrella by the door still lying where it fell

Morning rush left traces everywhere we dwell

Even when the day is filled with small mistakes

Cross this threshold and you get another take

"Welcome home" is what I’ve been rehearsing

Lights are warm and all the pots are gently stirring

You were running late, that’s perfectly fine

Long as you come back to this heart of mine

Welcome home, welcome home

Welcome home, welcome home
