One of Okinawa's most treasured classical pieces, "Kagiyadefu Bushi," is brought to life through a heartfelt virtual father-and-son collaboration.
Before his passing in August 2018, Yoshikuni Okamura - a master of Ryukyuan classical music and a teacher of the Afuso style of uta-sanshin - recorded this performance on cassette tape as a practice guide for his students. Years later, his son, Satoshi Okamura, carefully restored the worn and aging recording, adding his own arrangement and uta-sanshinperformance.
The result is a moving collaboration across generations, fulfilling a father-and-son performance that was never possible during his father's lifetime.
Okamura Satoshi is a singer-songwriter from Okinawa, Japan and a songwriter and composer. He sings by mainly playing Sanshin which are traditional Okinawan musical instruments. His characteristic of music is the fusion of various genres of music and Okinawa traditional music.
