REI officially launched a new R&B project under his real name, based in Toronto, Canada, in 2025.

This year, he showcased his versatile new style through a diverse array of releases, including the EP TOKYOTOTORONTO, the Vancouver-produced track Skrr With Me, the home-recorded single Different, the Lounge-R&B fusion track Go Go Go, and the Neo-Soul leaning track Thinking Bout You.

To close out the year, he surprised fans on Christmas with TOKYOTOTORONTO (Sped Up & Slowed Down). This collection maximizes the charm of the original EP released in June while incorporating the currently trending "Sped Up & Slowed Down" arrangements.

It's a fitting end to a transformative 2025.

    REI began his career in 2015 as a member of the Shibuya-based hip-hop crew kiLLa under the name KEPHA. kiLLa's cutting-edge Tokyo style garnered much attention, including a nationwide tour, but the group was often forced to take a break. In 2025, the 10th anniversary of her debut, she launched a new R&B project under her real name, REI. The project's unique sound style is a fusion of the vibes of two cities, Tokyo and Toronto, its new base of activity.
