A piece originally written for the musical 83days, first staged in 2012, is now revived as a digital single.
"83days," composed by Fumiyo Takagi, was inspired by the 1999 nuclear accident in Tokaimura. The music was born from a story depicting the life of a man who fought radiation exposure, along with his family and the doctors who cared for him. As an ordinary, quiet daily life is suddenly shaken, the delicate ensemble of piano and string quartet expresses-softly yet profoundly-the strength and preciousness of human compassion and connection.
Premiered the year after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, the work continues to raise questions and resonate with audiences even today.
Digital release: March 24, 2026.
