Musician "TWOTH" will digitally release its fifth album "PLAYBACK THE COMPACT," its first in two years, on Wednesday, August 17.
The theme of the album was inspired by the book, "Hoketsuki" written in the middle of the Edo period (1603-1868), which is the origin of the ancient Japanese aesthetic sense of "folding, tying, and wrapping".
The music is a sound world that transcends genres and is constructed with a dynamic and free expression that envelops and unravels this confusing world.
This album consists of a total of 10 tracks, including unreleased songs and remixes, in addition to the sound sources used in the ISSEY MIYAKE 2021 Spring/Summer Collection "UNPACK THE COMPACT," which was released in 2020 in the form of video distribution due to Corona's influence.
The mastering was done by master electronic/ambient artist Taylor Deupree, who has collaborated with Ryuichi Sakamoto and David Sylvian and is the leader of <12k>.
The album will also feature a REMIX by Meitei, an up-and-coming ambient electronic musician who is the pride of Japan, as well as a new piece by the improvisational techno unit B
REMIX tracks by BERVATRA, an improvisation techno unit, and other tracks will all be distributed digitally.

<Comments from artists across genres on the occasion of the release>

When I woke up in the morning, I found "Noise.
He/she himself/herself was looking at me curiously, wondering why I was here.
I explained that I was too drunk to remember anything last night, and we decided to reconcile our last-minute memories with each other.
It was all vague memories and not even a clue, but there was some sense of happiness just talking like this.
I was washing my face and making coffee when suddenly he/she said, "Sorry! I had a dentist appointment, so I'll leave first," and he/she ran out.
I guess that's when I started to get scared of silence.

You are drawn into a wonderful world where you think the atmosphere is not easily approachable and wish it were playing in your dreams. The more you are drawn in unprotected, the more you will appreciate the quality of the music.
This is an album that overwhelms you with its careful and exquisite sound production. The mastering by Taylor Deupree (!) is also the best.

This work opens with a certain sadness and a tenderness like that of spring.
The lyricism of this work is as if it yearns for our former daily life, which has been deprived of the joy of "smelling" due to an unprecedented pandemic.

Today, things are passing before our eyes at an accelerated pace.
The relentless demon of "efficiency" is swallowing up "people" one after another.
Is this the kind of future we hoped for back then?

The end of the rainy season, the earliest in recorded history.
I was somewhat relieved to see the "return of the rainy season," a reversal by nature, just after the end of the rainy season, when I received this news.
Congratulations on the release!

The meticulously polished sound grains and the glitches that gently appear like phantom fragments. Reflected on the polished mirror surface of these grains of sound are fragments of nostalgic memories or daydreams created by a consciousness burned by the piercing midsummer sun.
