Who is Liena? is the debut mini album from LienaBards, a music project led by guitarist Liena.
Bringing together a diverse group of musicians, the record explores a wide range of sounds built around expressive guitar work-moving freely between instrumental music, heavy rock, and acoustic arrangements.
The album features an eclectic lineup of performers including former Cyntia drummer Kanoko, drummer Bobji, pianist Mika Maruki, metal violinist RENA, percussionist Hiroshi Chu Okubo, ocarina player Ocarina Genseki, and vocalist Aoi Ito. Each musician adds their own unique voice, creating a rich and colorful sonic landscape.
From the explosive heavy rock of "Attack on the Drums," driven by powerful rhythms and fierce violin lines, to the acoustic reinterpretation of the traditional English folk song "Greensleeves," the record shifts between intensity and delicacy. Other tracks paint vivid scenes, such as the instrumental piece inspired by walking beneath cherry blossoms in full bloom.
The closing track "TSUBASA" carries a particularly personal meaning. Originally written for a late classmate, the song later became a tribute to two friends after keyboardist YULIHA, who had performed it live with the band, also passed away. For the recording, the piano and equipment that YULIHA used during his lifetime were carefully used to preserve his presence within the music.
Blending different styles and stories through collaboration, LienaBards marks the beginning of a new musical journey.
