• Mikiko Nagatake

  Mikiko Nagatake was born in Funabashi-City, Chiba Prefecture.She began classical piano from the age of 5, studying piano,improvisation and composition with Ms. Kiyomi Yorishima at Yamaha Music School.While attending Hohda Junior High School Nagatake even joined the brass band, playing trumpet.Upon entering the Faculty of Law at Waseda University Nagatake joined the Modern Jazz Club and the High Society Orchestra.Fascinated with jazz music, she threw herself into jazz piano, studying with Waseda University graduate,Ms. Kurumi Shimizu and participating in sessions.Since graduating from Waseda Nagatake has become an in demand pianist,playing with a variety of artists as well as leading her own groups.Besides joining guitarist Yoshiaki Masuo's MAGATAMA, Shun Sakai's vocal group,saxophonist Miyuki Moriya's bassless trio and others,she leads her own piano trio "J. J. Soul," and co-leads duo unit "Jabuticaba" with Nami Kano (a.sax & s.sax).Nagatake performs regularly at jazz bars and live houses in and around Tokyo.
