Tokyo-based band Dead By Inches return with 'better", their first single in a year and a half. What starts as a sparse acoustic slow-burn gradually fractures into something darker and more exposed, pushing beyond the band's usual dreamy drift into territory closer to slowcore and sadcore. miai's voice feels raw and close-mic'd, carrying frustration, grief, and the faint outline of hope without ever softening the blow.
