Awakening from a red dream
Kagero is a song that feels like a direct release of my own inner conflict.
There are many layers of meaning embedded in the lyrics, but at the time I wrote them, I was struggling with various issues related to human relationships and work.
No matter how much I shouted about what I truly wanted to do, my voice was rarely acknowledged. I was left only with empty results, feeling lost and helpless. It was at that very moment that I met Ken Mishiro, the composer of this song.
The demo Mishiro gave me was already very beautiful. It was originally sung by a female vocalist, but when I tried singing it in the same key, it surprisingly felt even better. It came across as more sensual, and everything fit perfectly.
More than anything, the seductive and melodic progression of the song felt as though it was cleansing my state of mind at the time. I gradually became completely absorbed in Kagero myself. The musical direction is entirely different from my previous works. Until now, my songs were more light driven or clean in nature, but Kagero stands out with its darkness and sensuality. By using whisper voice and edge voice techniques, I sing in a way that emphasizes a more mature impression of myself. I believe this song allows listeners to experience a new side of KAZUMA.
As the lyrics suggest, awakening from a red dream means waking up from false dreams and realizing the importance of awakening to one's true passion. I created this song with that message in mind, and I hope that Kagero can become even a small trigger for that awakening.
