"Melodrama" - a life drama for an age when what was once truly held in memory now survives only as a record.

Based in Yokohama since 2005, MONJI2C has spent two decades reshaping his sound - from reggae roots through hip-hop and R&B to contemporary J-pop - scoring multiple genre No.1 chart positions along the way. "Melodrama" (catalog no. 7THV-007) is his new full-length, released on his own label, 7th Voice Records.

Across six tracks, the album captures the honesty, bonds, hesitations, and love exchanged in that kind of era - a concept record built from small, real moments rather than grand statements.

M1 "R.A.W" opens the album like a ritual: the night before the weekend, shedding the armor of daily life. A reggae-rooted, riddim-driven rush that takes over from the first bar.

The title track and lead single "Melodrama" is about standing alone under the spotlight - the loneliness and the pride that come with it. Living out your own story in an era with no clear answers is messy, but it still shines. Kayo-style melody meets rock, at the heart of the record.

"WAI-YO" captures the exact moment the masks come off on a Saturday night floor - pure release under the heat of the crowd, laced with a little defiance, running till the night runs out.

"Dose Mata" is set in the back alleys and regular haunts of Yokohama - nothing special ever really happens, and yet the same faces keep showing up anyway. An unpolished ode to friendship, to the kind of bond that pulls you back whether you plan it or not.

"Busaiku na Yoru" sits with a night you can't show anyone - not a pep talk, not comfort, just someone breathing quietly beside you. A gentleness that asks nothing in return.

Closing the album, "Aishiteru tte Kotoba no Imi wo" is about finally noticing the love that had become so familiar it nearly went unseen - an unguarded, clumsy confession that brings the record to a quiet close.
