Shione Yukawa's highly anticipated new album, Blue Bird, her first in two years, will be released this winter.
Like her 2022 album, 10 Footprints, Blue Bird is entirely self-produced, with inspiration drawn from novels and tanka poems. The lyrics intricately weave themes of being born, living, and departing, set against a backdrop of her signature choral, religious, and traditional musical roots. These elements come together to create an original sound that unfolds into a cohesive, heartfelt narrative.
The album features arrangements by longtime collaborators Mahito Fujiwara and Yoshiki Sakurai, with string arrangements by Kumi Takahara. Together, they bring a deep understanding of Yukawa's artistic world, enhancing its depth and resonance.
A highlight of Blue Bird is Yukawa's first collaboration with her father, Tohben Yukawa, adding a deeply personal touch to the album. This collection of vibrant songs reflects Shione Yukawa's artistic journey and marks the culmination of her 20-year career since her debut.
Shione Yukawa is a singer and songwriter from Japan. She joined the "Little Singers of Tokyo" and started singing while in primary school, allowing her to experience many performances abroad. Her first solo performance at the Pop Field in 2001 created a huge buzz, and her voice became widely recognized over night. Shione returned to Tokyo after studying in Ireland, and began composing her own songs and started her career as a professional musician. From then, she has continued to create a unique musical world, weaving together her influences from classic and traditional music with beautiful rhythmical lyrics. http://yukawa-shione.tumblr.com/ (Official Japanese Website) https://soundcloud.com/shione-yukawa https://itunes.apple.com/jp/artist/tang-chuan-chao-yin/id479461009 info@yukawashione.com
