A New Heartbeat in the Japanese Dub Scene. Nya Pulse Debuts with "Slavery Days."
Reggae, Dub, Afrobeat-Nya Pulse, a "New Dimension Dub Band" comprised of masters from their respective fields, finally emerges.
Their debut single, "Slavery Days," is a heavy roots-reggae anthem that honors the spirit of the genre while pushing it forward. The band is led by SHANTY-NOB, a cornerstone of the scene and former member of the legendary 2000s band CULTIVATOR. Recognized as one of Japan's premier roots producers, his works have been notably played by the late, great Jah Shaka.
Under his deep sonic vision, an elite group has gathered: drummer Asahi Umezu (leader of JAMA-ICHI riddim), guitarist Tetsuta Otachi (an explorer of Afrobeat's depths), versatile keyboardist Kengo Oishi, and multi-talented percussionist Kana Komaki.
True to their name-a blend of "Naya" (Hindi for "New") and "Nyahbinghi" (the spiritual heart of reggae)-this track transforms a profound respect for tradition into a sharp, modern steppers groove.
With earth-shaking bass and a razor-sharp dub mix, a "New Pulse" begins here to shake the Japanese dub scene of the 2020s.
