Artist Profile

  • Akiko Akiyama

    Born in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture. Started playing the piano at the age of four. After graduating from university, she worked as a piano instructor at a music school in Murakami, and then at the age of 25, she enrolled in the piano course at Music College "Mather House", where she studied under Jazz pianist Hiroko Kunifu. After graduation, she began to work as a performer in restaurants, hotels, parties, and events. In the course of her activities, she has been blessed with encounters with many singers across genres, including opera singers, singer-songwriters, nursery rhyme singers, chanson singers, and Jazz singers, and has experienced the stage as an accompanist and participated in recordings. In recent years, she has been focusing on creating original compositions inspired by nature, and has released the solo piano albums "Rinpu", "Yume", and "Hanashoomi". Rinpu" was selected as the BGM for MXTV's "Healing & Headline News Belgium" and "Yume" was selected as the BGM for the same program's "Scenery with Streetcars 1" and aired for several years from 2014. It has also been widely used as background music in counseling salons and treatment centers.
