On May 30, 2025, in Okinawa, a pit bull, a breed known for dog fighting, was roaming around a residential area.
It attacked and fatally bit a pet dog.

Due to their aggressive nature, pit bulls are banned in countries such as the United Kingdom, Italy, and Singapore.
They are often compared to the legendary "hell hound" and famously appear as the black dog of Dartmoor in Sherlock Holmes' The Hound of the Baskervilles.
Additionally, they are believed to have served as the model for Cerberus, the guard dog of the underworld in Greek and Roman mythology.
