Frank Churchill composed "Someday My Prince Will Come" for the 1937 film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Disney has amassed a trove of incredible original songs. "When You Wish Upon a Star" from the 1940 film Pinocchio is probably the most popular; however, "Someday My Prince Will Come" is one of the first Disney songs to cross over into "adult" music with its gorgeous swooning melody. Therefore, not only pop singers, but also many jazz musicians, performed this song. I found something avant-garde in it, and I chose to perform the song far more aggressively.
Akira Tateishi, a pianist and composer, performs and teaches in Tokyo where he was born. After graduating from The New School University, he stayed in NYC and did cruise ship gigs with Mike Bocchicchio. Before getting to NYC, he had been working for a governmental agency to facilitate international trade right after studying politics at Keio University in Tokyo
